MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND - CLIMATE CHANGE

“July 2012 - For several days this month, Greenland's surface ice cover melted over a larger area than at any time in more than 30 years of satellite observations. Nearly the entire ice cover of Greenland, from its thin, low-lying coastal edges to its two-mile-thick center, experienced some degree of melting at its surface…    ….According to satellite data, an estimated 97 percent of the ice sheet surface thawed at some point in mid-July.”

NASA scientists first reported an unprecedented meltdown then thought it might be faulty data.  It matters because when the 2.2 million square kilometres of snow and ice, rising up to a mile high on Greenland melts, sea level will rise dramatically.  When the 13.8 million square kilometres, rising up to 3 miles high on Antarctica also melts – the sea will rise by about 300 ft (113 metres).  Governmental and commercial pressures to resist all thoughts of change and focus on “business as usual” censor such facts and, Canute like, push them a hundred years into the future.  If your home is below 300ft, as are 80%, follow the NASA link and judge for yourself.

My climate-change e-novel, Out of the Depths (Print version, Over the Rainbow) tracks migrants from the flooded coastal margins and concludes there is no hiding place for highlanders or lowlanders. If you live on a mountain, try stopping 5.6 billion desperate refugees from joining you.
