GOOD NEWS - BAD NEWS - 11 MAY 2018

BALANCE IS IMPORTANT
11 MAY 2018    GOOD NEWS:

1) TORTURE:  UK apologizes for torturing Abdel Hakim Belhaj and his wife Fatima Bouchar and other Libyans, in 2004. Compensation will be paid.

2) KOREA: Trump welcomes home three US Koreans imprisoned in North Korea. Supporters celebrate Trump's style of diplomacy that brings "Rocket man" to his senses. Trump deniers think that China achieved the apparent improvement between North and South Korea.

3) GREEN POWER: A new process for making aluminium will cut 6.5bn tonnes of carbon-dioxide and save 15% of costs, claim ALCOA and RIO-TINTO.

4) CLIMATE:  Thwaites Glacier in Antarctica to be studied by 100 scientists to determine if it is melting and contributing to sea-level-rise (SLR). The expedition is costing $50M.

5) BREXIT: Is paused by House of Lords (un-elected) amendments. These amendments are sent to the House of Commons (elected) to be debated again. It indicates a small sign of economic sanity. Michael Bloomberg says "Brexit is 'the single stupidest thing any country has ever done' - aside from electing Trump."  Recent UK polls (April 2018) show a small swing of 52% REMAIN and 48% LEAVE.

BAD NEWS:

1) TORTURE: Trump proposes Gina Haspel as head of the CIA. She was accused of torture in 2002, in Thailand. This accords with Trump's belief that torture works.

2) IRAN: Trump sabotages Obama's nuclear peace deal with Iran, ratcheting up tensions in the Middle-East. His supporters claim Trump's belligerence works; detractors fear war, and claim his hate of Obama is the reason for this globally decried action. Trump's Moscow pissing orgy on a bed the Obamas slept in, (Christopher Steele Memo) is also being ascribed to his hatred. Is this of all coloreds or just of Obama?

3) SEA-LEVEL-RISE: Arctic and Antarctic sea ice lowest ever recorded. Both poles have less sea ice. This floating ice does not increase sea-level SLR as it melts, but its absence releases land-based glaciers 3 to 5 km high to slide into the oceans and increase SLR; which threatens the habitats of 5 billion people.

4) BREXIT: Agitators threaten violence if "the will of the people is thwarted". The UK is bitterly divided, about 50/50. LEAVERS are supported by 90% of main-stream media, all owned by offshore billionaires. I suspect they are desperate to escape EU tax-courts. There are approximately $3 trillion of un-taxed UK assets hidden offshore.
