“In October 2015, Pope Francis, President Obama, Lord Stern and 600 hundred very concerned scientists have urged us to prepare now for Climate Change. This novel graphically spells out, step by step, the major impact on all our lives.”
OUT OF THE DEPTHS – Is an “unputtabledownable” fact based drama, set in the Thames London estuary as global warming floods the coastal margins and billions of people worldwide grudgingly migrate to higher ground. What happens to London also occurs in New York and all coastal settlements.
The destruction of transport routes disrupts food supplies and the measures for containment of pandemics. Avian flu’ H5N1 kills 80% of the human race. The heroine, Alice, survives by secretly dwelling on the upper floors in Harrods, surrounded by deep, dangerous and filthy water, to eventually emerge and join other survivors, including the politically ambitious, self-appointed Dean of London University and ruthless agents of once aristocratic land owners.
Alice, supported by a nuclear submarine captain, James Cruikshank, opposes “politics and power as usual”, and is murdered for spreading radical and seditious ideas. An overt battle for who will rule Britain commences.
The book ends with the compass pointing to the brave new world which will result. Throughout, quotes from the scientific literature and tales from Londoners’ lives paint an accurate picture – if a little accelerated – of what global warming will bring us.

AD 2516 – After Global Warming - by Noel Hodson (recommended for the Whitbread Prize) – a light and humorous, yet deep and realistically based tale of what will become of us, in 500 years time – after the icecaps melt.
Instead of shutting down mass transport or greatly inconveniencing 550 Million Europeans who use our City centres, airports, rail stations, bus stations, ports and roads; it is more efficient for the small, minority Muslim populations in high risk areas (e.g. 17% in Brussels) to be put under curfew and have every Muslim accompanied by guards by prior appointment whenever they leave their homes. There are more than enough EU unemployed or under-employed safe and security cleared citizens to police such a curfew. It will be far less expensive than attempting to protect all EU transport hubs from the Islamic lunatics. What's not to like? During the curfew - the intelligence services should locate and arrest all dealers of illicit weapons and explosives.
Or is it in fact not a Muslim plan to kill all "Kafirs" but a Catholic conspiracy, masterminded by Pope Francis, to blow up or shoot all European sinners - in the name of God? Should we round up the Jesuits?
ISIS-BOUNTY-HUNTING - IBH
Letter to The Guardian, London
28 NOV 15 - The largest estimate of ISIS fighters is 200,000, which is a mighty army. The most efficient way to neutralize them, while sparing civilians, is to announce a £5,000 bounty for every live ISIS prisoner. This bounty will cost £1 billion. America has already spent $2.7 billion, or $9 million a day. Even adding the long term costs of prisoner of war camps, it still leaves bounty-hunting as the cheapest option. There is no shortage of tough locals, and global mercenaries, police and soldiers who would bring in the prisoners. Noel HODSON
***********
If Russia, America, China,
Saudi Arabia, South Africa, The Commonwealth and Europe offered
worldwide a £5,000 ISIS bounty and prepared camps for prisoners of war – there
are as many well trained ex-troops as were/are the armed forces of those
nations; millions of potential sheriffs.
There are also many other unafraid
experienced “tough” guys – such as from the police and The French Foreign
Legion. Gangsters would join in the hunt.
Camps could be established in uninhabited areas such as the 19,000 sq km Qattari Depression in the Egyptian Sahara - which could be economically transformed by a large workforce.
If, say, bounty-hunter platoons of
20 – each captured 10 ISIS fighters per day, the platoon would share £50,000 a
day - £2,500 a day each – almost as much as middle ranking footballers.
I
am reasonably sure that would recruit the necessary number of bounty-hunters. I
am reasonably sure that such fighters would find and overcome the hastily
assembled rag-bag of ISIS fighters – who were previously unemployed desk
workers and farmers, turned into wild eyed ranting bullies of women, children, civilians and pensioners –
whose first reaction to any professional armed opposition, as in Paris etc, is
to blow themselves up. Deluded, frantic, suicidal, bullying cowards don’t make
good soldiers.
As for the detail of the
organisation of ISIS- Bounty-Hunting (IBH), Europe alone has 6,000 elected MPs
and 11 million civil servants – who are highly paid by tax-payers to think
ahead and figure out the detailed tactics. The other nations will no doubt help
with the planning and paying the bounty.
However, ISIS is dedicated to wantonly
killing all who won’t believe what they believe. They are psychotic, hate
everyone else in the world and will kill more and more, all of us, as they grow stronger.
They have to be rounded up quickly.
Advantages of IBH include
immediate, highly targeted commando style attacks, sparing most civilians; no
single country or region identified by ISIS as The Enemy; hordes of live
prisoners testifying to ISIS defeat; bounty-money poured into war-torn zones;
and immediate action on the ground. “Action This Day”.
Maybe the enriched mercenaries could later
be mellowed and persuaded and paid to stay on as administrators, teachers and medics to rebuild the ravaged regions.

PARIS - WAR ON IDIOCY 16 NOV 2015 - Website Petitioners Avaaz write of the Paris killings: "There are too many of us
who know what it means to have terrorism touch our lives, our loved ones, our
sense of connection with the people around us. Today, France and Lebanon are in
the midst of that fog of tragedy.
This was more than a monstrous act of hatred. These attacks were
designed to shake the very foundations of all our societies. They are an
assault on our shared humanity, and our tolerance, liberty and respect -- the
values that underpin the world our movement was built to create. "
"...THESE ATTACKS WERE DESIGNED TO...." Let's think about that statement.
We should query the idea that these self-destructive morons "designed" anything. This statement ascribes motive, thought and intelligence to the seven Muslim halfwits who blew themselves up and to the eighth idiot, who has so far eluded capture.
If you, gentle and intelligent readers, cast your minds back to your teenage and twenties companions, most of us will remember that among every group and gathering of energetic, testosterone charged, young hopefuls, there was always one or more IQ challenged daredevil who would risk disgrace, death or disablement from playing with guns, drugs, drink, driving, sport, speed, gambling, or through challenging other gangs of idiots in violent confrontations. Such irresponsible, unthinking, inconsiderate guys would not only put themselves at risk but would threaten the safety of the whole group. When they had done their "heroic" worst, they often also put professional rescue teams at risk. However carefully "designed" the event, there would always be one thick-headed Yahoo who would put themselves and their friends in danger.
The Paris Jihads - confused sex starved morons, believing in and praying for the seventy-two martyrs' virgins promised by their stay-at-home, I'll-hold-your-coat religious tutors, fantasize - after blowing themselves to bits - that they will be somehow reconstructed, complete with sexual organs, by angels and then enter their heaven, for eternal paradise, to have peeled grapes dropped into their mouths by adoring servants, and to experience eternal non-stop multiple orgasms. These half-wits have not "considered" that they are being conned and fooled by their trainers, that it is unlikely that bands of angels will locate, collect and restore all their bloodied and battered organs and limbs and rebuild them - or considered that too many peeled grapes will give them perpetual diarrhea and that continuous sexual congress will make their little willy's very sore.
The very difficult security task facing Paris and the world, is to oblige would-be Jihads to consider anything at all, to stop "thinking with their pricks" - and to engage in that most energy consuming work, which is avoided by most of us, most of the time, the work of thinking and self-reflection. In the meantime - they and their tutors and supporters must be identified and held in lunatic asylums until suitable remedial treatments are devised. The world must quadruple its intelligence services and put them to the task. President Hollande is right, it is a war, a war on idiocy.
My long term political solution is massive high-tech investment in North Africa - to build new wealthy communities; available only to people who have rejected all religions and tribal identities.

Entered for The Whitbread First Novel Prize and reviewed by Brian Aldiss in The Times & The Guardian, who dubbed the author "That distinguished futurist". AD2516 depicts the world re-born after the 2012 floods and pandemics in Noel Hodson's first tale, OUT OF THE DEPTHS.
It is a good read - amusing and on many levels - that predicts what life will be like in the interconnected communities relying on quantum computing or The Q Field. The future science, economics and societies are all realistically based in today's achievements.
It offers hope and a great life, in a world that has rebuilt New York and functions without money, where people live for 180 years. Engaging and intriguing, it lasts just about as long as a transatlantic flight.
