STRONGEST TYPHOON EVER RECORDED DEVASTATES PHILIPPINES.

One week after 200 mph winds, driving 30 foot waves, destroyed cities, towns, villages and farms, the world is counting the costs, measured in many thousands of deaths and hundreds of thousands made homeless.

The world asks "Is it due to man-made global warming?"

But, it matters not a tinker's cuss whether it is anthropogenic (human activity) or not. Looking for culprits is a long blame game that can be played out after we've fixed the problem and avoided the very real present dangers.

It doesn't matter if it is volcanoes, sunbursts, planetary wanderings, inter-galactic-aliens, native cooking stoves, Google's overheated computers, the Tea Party in their SUVs, or your neighbor's TV standby switch. Except that we might be able to change some of these. But, the heat has happened, the carbon dioxide is in the upper atmosphere, with other greenhouse gases - and it will take hundreds of years to dilute it.

Is the climate getting warmer? Yes, without doubt. The atmosphere has warmed by 0.5 degrees and the deep oceans have warmed in the past 60 years "faster than has ever occurred in the past". Warmer oceans and air are melting the ice-caps. The North-West passage is open. This meltdown releases huge volumes of freezing cold ice-water into the oceans at the Poles, which flows round the planet in unpredictable currents - making some coastlines and regions colder than normal. Icebergs will drift into previously clear sea lanes. These massive, irreversible changes are causing more extreme weather events - droughts, floods, typhoons, hurricanes, heat waves, forest fires, pestilence, Iain Duncan-Smith etc.

Human beings and most animals on this fragile Ark in Space - our home - the blue planet Earth - cannot evolve rapidly enough to cope with extreme rapid changes - in turn freezing, boiling, dehydrated, homeless, crops disrupted, drowned. We can and will rush about to repair lives with all the goodwill and humanity we can muster - but eventually our wills and energy will be depleted - and most of us will die prematurely. Although global warming will eventually melt thousands of square miles of tundra permafrost and eventually turn the huge continent of Antarctica and immense Greenland into empty mountainous paradises, and maybe will water the vast deserts, we, the human race, are not adapted to rolling with the changes; continuously uprooting our civilization and resettling. 80% of 7 billion people live on the coastal margins - which, like the Philippines have, will flood and create 5 billion refugees - and submerge many cities and most farms and factories. Its no use hiding in the mountains - 5 billion hungry refugees will find you. If they don't - the typhoons will.

What should we do? How can adapt?

We can and must prepare for the reality of what is happening. The world needs to embark on the era of global intelligent-cooperation. We have to grow up, stop squabbling and fighting, stop privately exploiting our resources and each other, learn to share, to be fair, to generally like and respect each other. And start now to adapt.

If the conditions above are met sufficiently, showers and storms will start to gain organization as low level winds converge toward the center of the low pressure area. The cluster of convection will start to form bands. As the convection increases, the warm air near the surface rises and cools. As it cools the water vapor condenses. There is a tremendous amount of heat produced from the condensation of water vapor. Some of this heat warms the center region of the low. As the temperature of the air near the core rises it produces lower pressure. In response to this lower pressure, winds increase in intensity. A tropical storm forms when the surface winds reach sustained winds of 39-73 mph. A hurricane officially classified as the winds reach sustained values of 74 mph.

Even if all of the ingredients of a hurricane are in place, it does not guarantee that a hurricane will form. Many of the factors in hurricane formation exist in the tropics, especially in the heart of hurricane season. Despite this, very few disturbances actually develop into a hurricane.

This poster for the Globe Theatre production of Jessica Swales' play, Blue Stockings, needs no explanation from me - other than to say that Cambridge now has almost equal numbers of female and male students. The first women's Degrees ranking equally with men's were awarded about 50 years later than the Blue Stockings battle, in 1948.

Founded on religious orders a thousand years ago, Oxbridge may be entitled to think and act infinitely slowly, or at best, at glacial speed. The Roman Catholic Church took 400 years to apologize for harassing Galileo about his heretical, crazy idea that the Earth orbits the Sun, not as The Pope believed that the Sun orbits the Earth; so, how many more centuries before we applaud or abhor the heretical abomination of Female Bishops officiating in our Cathedrals?

I am tempted to start a Blog-theme of tales of surviving stone-age people. Perhaps modern civilization should establish zoos, where stone-age groups and cultures can be preserved. My blog would certainly lead with the mass misogynistic debate on Women Bishops, then perhaps Stoning Harlots, Female Genital Mutilation, The Courageous Taliban warriors slaughtering school girls, Saudi Petro-Dollar Princes banning women drivers, other quaint religious lunacies, Droit de Signeur, Incest and Harems and imprisoning females at home, primitive Burkas and Crusader Chastity Belts, ...and, not forgetting this scientific medical genius below, Henry Maudsley, who founded The Maudsley Clinic and had absolute (scientific) proof that when women were afflicted with the irresistible compulsion to study, the effort redirected their blood circulation, their vital fluids, from their wombs and reproductive organs to their brains - thus rendering them infertile and barren and dooming them to a lonely, unhappy, unmarried, childless life - and, inevitably, eternal torment in The Burning Fires of Hell in the afterlife. All these curious cultures and customs should be preserved for posterity and our entertainment. I wonder if these diverse deep thinkers can breed and reproduce - or are they species that are doomed to extinction?

Girton is the first college in Britain to admit women. The girls risk their reputations for their education. They study ferociously and match their male peers grade for grade. Yet, when the men graduate, the girls leave empty handed, with nothing but the stigma of being a ‘blue stocking’- an unnatural, educated woman- to their names. They are unqualified and unmarriageable.

Principal Elizabeth Welsh is determined to win the girls the right to graduate, whatever the cost. Can they persuade the University? Not if the average fellow or undergraduate can prevent it.

LIVING WAGE OR LIVING DEATH?

A NEW BRAND OF SOCIO-ECONOMICS? Russell Brand tells it like it is.

One year after I penned this sarcastic little essay (below) to counter half-witted, idiotic, purblind, greedy "business leaders", "politicians" and "economists" who thought and probably still think that paying their employees a living wage will bankrupt them, the nation, the world and end civilization as we know it - THE LIVING WAGE has become a political issue in the UK. "They", the grasping, bullying, overpaid, slave-owning, offshore, trust-fund babe, Ivy League Scrooges who posture as entrepreneurs and responsible employers, went through similar illogical, insane, what in their minuscule brains passes for thought, processes a few years ago when The Minimum Wage (about £12K or $18K a year) became law.

I don't think that they really hate the lower classes, I think they are simply so stupid that they really do convince themselves with twisted logic that paying a servile wretch enough to survive on - at the lowest possible level, about £15K in London, $22K in New York, will ruin everybody and everything. Of course, the opposite is true - as the advent and practice of The Minimum Wage has indisputably proved. Real entrepreneurs - those who start and build world beating corporations - do pay decent wages, distribute shares and provide superb working conditions; e.g. how much does an Apple software writer earn? How much does a Microsoft secretary earn?. Real employers have no need to repair their bewildered little egos by bullying employees, starving their employees' families and battening as freeloaders on the tax-payers to make up the deficient wages. Good employers can run their businesses efficiently.

One year ago - 6 NOV 2012 - My daily newspaper, The Guardian, today publishes several articles on THE LIVING WAGE, including a report that London Mayor Boris Johnson insists that his employees get at least the living wage - and that the mayor exhorts his old school chum (Eton School £20,000 a year fees) Prime Minister David Cameron to pay it to his minions. One or two spokespersons for the small business sector (SMEs) were weeping and lamenting on radio and TV that their members cannot afford to pay THE LIVING WAGE which will wreck the UK economy; until assured by all political parties that it is a purely voluntary code. Phew! Smiles all round. For a moment I thought you were serious.

So what is this major threat to national and global economic stability?

( Update 4 Nov 2013 - E-Letter to my pal in America: LET THEM EAT CAKE - While we are swapping woeful economic tales – a debate is “raging” in the UK (a handful of people are a bit concerned) about employers paying less than the Living Wage and thus being heavily subsidized by tax-dollars. This excellent article is actually all about your lot – the 47 million Yankees on Food Stamps – and about the Living Wage. Surely The Free Markets dictate that if we persistently pay the great unwashed lower class skivvies less than they need to live, droves will die, they will become scarce – and be able to demand higher pay for cleaning our lavatories and making our hamburgers. What’s wrong with letting the markets decide?)

The voluntary code is to pay £8.55 an hour in London, and £7.45 provincially – an average of £8. For a 35 hour, 50 week year these unwashed servile low caste servants will cost us, through our voluntary charity and great generosity, a staggering £14,000 a year (less tax of course) each. The Telegraph newspaper asks “Can a family live on £40,000 a year?” But they are of course referring to real British people, Conservative voters, not the one-bath-a-week, cheaply perfumed NOKPD* being considered here.

We can suppose these guttersnipe Living-Wage-Persons have families, as at least some of them have the energy to breed the next generation of lavatory and street cleaners; and that they feed themselves on processed, pre-digested, life-shortening snacks; and clothe themselves in truly awful stretch-nylon and Lycra shell-suits and trainers; and they probably rent dank little flats infested with cockroaches and rats; Oh! And have to commute to work – we can safely assume they don’t healthily cycle or walk to work. That will absorb most of their after-tax pay.

But, it is odds on that they still smoke, drink beer, watch TV and find enough to play Bingo and The Lottery – when they should be saving the deposit for a house; like the Rt. Hon Iain Duncan Smith MP, scourge of the sick and poor, did when he was a (Trust Fund Babe) shelf-stacker for 2 weeks at TESCO.

As we said yesterday; if these persons ARE paid a living wage, where will we find enough debt defaulters to harass imprison and sustain the vital international drug trade, enough teenagers to fill our brothels, enough graduates to bully into years of unpaid internships, and enough cowed servants to hover politely while we finish our champagne, caviar and witty conversations?

PM David Cameron takes a meagre £142,000 to live on. 10 times the living wage. (Plus accommodation, travel, staff, banquets – and he is of course a multi-millionaire by inheritance).

Mayor Boris Johnson gets £394,000. 28 times the living wage.

Senior civil servants take salaries between these two. Many NHS managers and local authority managers get £200,000. 14 times the living wage. And they all get large, guaranteed, inflation proofed pensions for another 20- 25 years or so of retirement; in all amounting to an average 30 times THE LIVING WAGE.

The average SME owner director gets about £250,000 a year. An average large company executive gets £500,000 and the average blue-collar /clerk pay is £30,000. An average mechanic or tradesman charges £70 an hour, a lawyer or accountant or doctor £120 to £300 an hour.

TELEGRAPH - For top company directors the average salary is almost £2.7 million, for train drivers, £41,196. For most of us, however, it is a lot less. What is life like in the squeezed middle for average earners, and do they feel valued for the work they do?

Reality: Paying less than the Living Wage is insane economics. Employees cannot pay their rent, buy food, buy healthcare, buy decent clothes, educate their children or simply enjoy being alive. They are trapped in a cycle of ever increasing debt - or a lifelong downward spiraling depression. Vile employers, a marginal step above 18th Century slavers, who pay less than the living wage, are parasites who dump the deficits and sickness they cause onto society. They undercut all honest and fair employers - sabotaging Free Market principles. We pay what they won't pay, via our tax dollars. They bully their workers and bugger their neighbours and slink home every night with the spoils of other people's work. These sociopaths should be arrested and fined for the full costs they impose on the rest of us - and jailed until they pay it all back. How dare anyone set up and run a business based on paying their team players, their work colleagues less than they need to live. If all employees could pay their bills, their mortgages, their credit cards then the world's customer base, the global markets, the global economy would explode with wealth, health and happiness. Post this message on every business premises where people are underpaid.

Pedophile inquiry stalled yet again.

Lawyer, Fiona Woolf CBE, the first ever woman to be Lord Mayor of London (the City, the square mile, financial district) has been forced to quit as head of a major inquiry into 60 years of high level child sexual abuse in Britain. One of the senior figures in government, alleged to have destroyed, suppressed or diverted one of the numerous previous "major reports" of children, girls and boys, being beaten and sodomized by organised gangs of male pedophiles, has been identified as being a friend, neighbor, or colleague of Fiona Woolf. Last month the government's first choice of Chairman, Dame Butler-Sloss, a revered 70+ year old judge, had been forced to stand down, also for being pals with one or more of the key government figures who are to be interviewed.

I am old enough (71) to remember at least six past inquiries; starting in the 1950's with evil perverts systematically abusing boys in government run "children's homes" in North Wales. The local government suppressed all the reports. That, I remember, was followed by various VIPs in the Liberal Party abusing children - and all the reports were again buried. Then came the clergy - Catholics and Protestants alike - and scoutmasters - all suppressed by The Home Office. Nobody was charged. At last, after his death, TV star Jimmy Savile's serial abuse of at least 1,000 children - some in hospitals and more in "children's homes" made the news. This current high-level inquiry resulted.

My brother died last year. He was a tough guy. A brilliant lawyer, heavy-weight boxer, weight-lifter and he mixed professionally with mercenaries and other very tough guys. A few months before he died he related being fondled, aged 12, by his headmaster, Father Tommy Dugan at St Bede's College, Manchester. It was not buggery, or anything like it - just hands on his bottom. But as my brother told me the story, this veteran of hundred of tough encounters, this tough man - he wept. Up to then I had been uninterested and dismissive of the "lifelong trauma" that "victims" of being groped claimed. But no longer. The victims need to see their abusers named, shamed and in extreme cases, jailed.

HM Government cannot justify their persistent and determined protection of the pedophiles hiding in its ranks. They have no governmental reasons for trying to slip in "safe" chairmen of the inquiry panels and processes. At what point does obscuring the truth, "perverting the course of justice" become a serious criminal conspiracy?

It is shocking that these "stranger rapes" are said to be only ten percent of such attacks on children - the other 90% are secrets kept in the family. Which is the more polite supper table topic of conversation - incest or income? Test them both at your next dinner party.

STOP PRESS: 17 AUGUST 2014. LEADING BY EXAMPLE. To finally clarify the whole messy business of what English Law does and does not allow in private sexual behavior, the police team and BBC reporters who raided Cliff Richard's home will be filmed doing "it" correctly, sinlessly, with grace. The film clips will be posted on You Tube along with all the internet searches that the individual members of the teams have made in the past decade. Other authority figures will also be filmed, behaving properly in the privacy of their homes, in politically correct and religiously approved positions "in flagrante delicto" with partners of their choice:- Mr & Mrs Chief Constable of Sheffield, The Home Secretary, The Judiciary, All Bishops & Archbishops, and All Honourable Members; all acting strictly within the law and leading by example. The commentaries will be by the famous naturalist broadcaster, Sir David Frederick Attenborough. These filmed precedents will henceforth be the attested legal benchmarks for normal sex for all future cases of sexual deviancy. Thereafter, all UK bedrooms, bathrooms and lavatory pans will be fitted with HM Government CCTV and permanently recorded by all major search engines. If you have nothing to hide - you have nothing to fear. QED.

UK Thames Valley Police and South Yorkshire Police accompanied by a sniggering gang of tipped-off BBC reporters, complete with crowd drawing BBC helicopter, without warning, raided the UK home of 73 year old pop singer and media Peter Pan, Sir Cliff Richard. The celebrity star, Britain's answer to Elvis, is in Portugal, at another of his homes. We are told the police stayed 5 hours and took away several "objects" - presumably computers etc - in order to investigate a claim from an anonymous accuser that Cliff sexually abused a boy "aged under 16 years old" at a Billy Graham event in 1985. The police said this raid was not connected to Operation Yewtree, a wide ranging hunt for VIP pedophiles, triggered by the Jimmy Savile case.

MOSTLY HARMLESS

From the very little I know of the unmarried, ageless, private pop-star, who, judging from his reported solo living, almost certainly has an odd or a-sexual life, I doubt that he has ever "abused" anyone. But how can he prove a negative, thirty years later?

This raid on a "national treasure" will, I predict, be a step too far in the hysterical witch hunt for old pedophiles. I think in this instance the public will react with disgust at police and media behavior. The great pity is that if it results in a statute of limitations for such historical, unproven, unwitnessed accusations - the real abusers, cabals of top politicians, teachers, priests and powerful men who buggered and beat little boys in UK Orphanages and Children's Homes in the 50's, 60's and 70's will get way with their abominable crimes and go to their graves with their reputations intact. Perhaps that is the motive for this raid - to halt Operation Yewtree- or maybe someone doesn't like Bachelor-Boy Anglo-Indians being so immensely successful in Britain.

SPITEFUL GOSSIP?

As in any witch hunt - the great danger is that having so publicly raided and searched and asked for "other cases" to come forward, the police and the BBC News team are now under pressure to justify their expensive intrusive actions. Whatever they might now claim to "find" could have been planted. It can be guaranteed that among the millions of Richard fans are some twisted, spiteful nutters who will say anything to bring down such an idol and give themselves five minutes of fame, and maybe gouge out some financial compensation.

This globally publicized official raid has already wreaked immense reputation and financial damage on Cliff - which cannot be undone. It seems to be based on little more than poison pen letters and gutter gossip. Time will tell.

The search for real, horrible serial child abusers - like Savile; and the (Leeds/Sheffield South Yorkshire) police and high level UK executives who protected Savile - should continue. But UK law remains that the accused are innocent until proven guilty. Cliff Richard has been accused, condemned and executed before trial - and even before being charged; that's a lynching.

JIMMY SAVILE - BBC SCANDAL - DRIP.

17TH JULY 2014 - The UK Government has used the public's loathing of child abusers to shoehorn in, literally overnight, a new 1984 Total Surveillance law - DRIP - which requires all telephone and internet providers to retain all records of all telecoms and internet use on all citizens, in perpetuity. And, of course, to give total access to government agencies. This contrasts with German Chancellor Angela Merkel's and EU demands that the US (and the UK) stop meta-data and personal e-spying on family, friends and foes alike.

Conservative PM, David Cameron, insists that he and DRIP are keeping us all safe in beds - safe from Terrorists and Sex Abusers; and that "IF YOU HAVE NOTHING TO HIDE, then you have nothing to fear" - the assurance offered by all mad dictators and secret police. This coincides with a new inquiry into sex abuse by senior UK political figures - allegedly including top Tory figures - who among other unpleasant habits beat and sodomised little boys trapped in government "Care Homes", from about 1950 to date; probably all Friends of Jimmy Savile.

To demonstrate the urgent need for DRIP, UK police have, on the same day the snooping law was passed, arrested 660 UK pedophiles who have been accessing and swapping vile images of abused children. Only 39 of those arrested were previously on the Sex Offenders register. A police investigator for OPERATION NOTARISE said there are 50,000 Brits who use such illegal criminal pornography. An academic expert from UCL, on BBC Newsnight 16th July, claimed that 1 in 6 UK children are sexually abused; which is so unlikely that he ought to check his data and insane calculations.

FUTURIST VIEW - So, what are the consequences? Government will know what all citizens are doing on-line and no records will be deleted. Any attempt to block surveillance and keep business confidential will be an immediate target for zealous snoopers. This will accelerate the growth of the unhackable (so far) INTERNET 2 called MESHNET and other wireless networks. It will also enable TAX COLLECTORS to gather cast iron evidence of tax and money frauds going back decades, which will cause a run on the world's 74 tax-havens. On-shoring will greatly accelerate from now - in 2014. For child-abusers, terrorists and tax-evaders there is nowhere safe to hide.

10 July 2014 - POLITICAL PAEDOPHILES - Judge Dame Elizabeth Butler-Sloss is to head an inquiry into Westminster paedophiles. But protesters say she is part of the Westminster establishment and therefore may be biased towards more cover-up. (15 July - She has just resigned the post).

8th July 2014 - I recall from the age of ten in 1953, hearing reports of children, mostly boys, in state run children's homes in North Wales being abused sexually and being beaten by powerful men. These reports were widespread and resurfaced several times over 10 or 15 years but no names were named - no prosecutions were brought. The powerful criminals had clearly got away with it and there was no doubt that they used their connections in high places to escape justice. It was even then clear that the pedophiles were entrenched in the British Establishment and would probably never be publicly identified. Recent research now shows that children's homes across the UK, mostly government run, were convenient centres for VIP pedophiles to visit or to take children from for nights or days of abuse.

I think that what is happening is - as we (promoters of telework) predicted concerning the future of the Internet in 1995 - "The electronic telecommunications revolution will shine light into all the dark corners." I think that all dark secrets, sexual, commercial and bullying will be revealed.

Update 30 January 2014 - The count of groped girls, and a few boys, is now over 1,000. Mister Savile's, sorry, Sir Jimmy's tawdry legacy is a new set of groping (and worse) cases from the same era; in which UK TV stars, now in their 70's and 80's, are defending themselves against multiple accusations of such behaviour /behavior 50 years ago. Howthese now elderly, once possibly fan harassed & seduced handsome "personalities" can produce evidence that they didn't do it - how to prove a negative - is a mystery and a justice conundrum. On the other hand there may be truly distressed, now elderly women, who have nursed and repressed awful memories that have blighted their lives, who need closure. Should the accusers have complained 30 years ago? Maybe they did.

Update 4 November 2013 - Meirion Jones, BBC Panorama producer, writes in The Guardian today that Savile's 241 so far investigated sexual assaults included rape of a 12 year old girl; and that from 1970 his pedophilia /paedophilia was widely known at the BBC, at victims' hospitals and mental institutions and by Yorkshire police. The TV programme, After Savile: No more Secrets? will be shown on BBC1 at 8.30pm, 4th Nov. With 400 accusations and rising, the likelihood grows that there probably was a pedophile gang conspiracy with Sir Jimmy Savile as the Master Pimp. It will be interesting to track the cover ups by The Ministry of Truth.

(Update 15 Nov 2012 - Blameless Director General of the BBC, George Entwistle has resigned and there are now about 400 women complaining of being groped etc, as teenagers, by Savile. )

The rest of the world is probably baffled that the UK media, from the international BBC to tiny local newspapers, is obsessed with the odious scandal of a dead disk-jockey. It currently displaces all other news headlines and occupies acres of print and hours of radio and TV news time.

Briefly: Jimmy Savile OBE KCSG, from Leeds, Yorkshire, UK, died aged 85 in October 2011. He was a “public” Catholic, lived with his mum, never married, had no children and, starting as a dance-hall manager, he was a highly successful, self-promoting showman and broadcaster. He travelled the country towing a caravan with a white Rolls Royce. He was showered with honours and awards – from The Pope, The Queen, The Government, Universities and Charities. He was an athlete: once a professional wrestler, latterly running the London Marathon. When young, his spine was injured and he thereafter patronised the world famous spinal injuries StokeMandeville Hospital (which created the Para-Olympics), tirelessly raising £40 million for that and other laudable charities. He had collar length blonde hair, smoked Cuban cigars, yapped in popular catch-phrases, and wore dreadful shiny shell-suits; he was and looked a weird (but lovable) eccentric.

Recently, a year after his death, 200 or more women have accused Jimmy Savile of sexually molesting them when they were teenagers. His decades on TV pop-music programmes and several extraordinary living apartments, provided for him in mental, penal and medical institutions; gave him access to vulnerable, impressionable and sometimes physically helpless teenage girls. As the news unfolds, there seems little doubt that he was a constant sexual predator without conscience or feelings. The accusations are too numerous to dismiss; there could have been many hundreds more sexual assaults. Unless he is the innocent, posthumous victim of a Salem type hysterical witch-hunt, he was most probably an odious, emotionally immature, psychologically damaged pervert – who also spent his life doing good works.

So what, non-Brits will still ask, is the beef? Why does this sad Savile character push news of World War Three off the front pages?

The media hysteria is an in-house, inter-industry fest of squealing, excited journalists. Most of the abused teenagers, many under 16 years old, were in the audiences of Savile’s BBC weekly Top of the Pops and other long running kiddie shows. His unique private apartments within hospitals, to which he was given ward keys, were courtesy of the National Health Service (NHS).

Who, in these massive, nationwide government funded institutions, was protecting the children on their premises from 1964 until 2011? Why did nobody notice the vulgar-stretch-nylon-clad serial paedophile-rapist in their midst; groping young girls in his BBC dressing room, his caravan and in hospital beds?

Was it and is it a sinister paedophile conspiracy? Did the Director General of the BBC, George Entwistle, then aged 6 years old, consort with Savile; or was it the Chairman, The Uber-Lord John Patten (also a Catholic), who was groomed from childhood with demonic devilish powers, to rise up the BBC, win total dominion and pave the way for his Dark Lord? Why did not the 8,000 BBC journalists notice anything? Why didn’t the Government, The Queen, The Royal Family, Prime Minister Tony Blair, MI5, MI6, The Police, the other TV celebrities, the 1.2 million NHS staff, the Press, The Radio, Jimmy Savile’s milkman and the lady who ran the BBC canteen; NOT see anything?

So, please will the world media just watch open mouthed, hold off your feeble news stories of Presidential Elections, Collapsing Currencies, Total War etc, etc; Blah, Blah Blah… and watch enviously while Britain digs up its dead paedophile, The Once Blessed Now Cursed Jimmy Savile, and throws shovelfuls of dirt at the otherwise impeccable, cautious and largely benign BBC (and for good measure at that socialistic National Health Service). Rupert Murdoch is thought to be smiling broadly.

This could bring down governments. This is the stuff that Conspiracy Theories are made of. Let loose the dogs of war!

What level of anger does it take to get the Treasury and tax-collectors to move against offshore tax-evaders with the same vigor they apply to prosecuting homeland onshore tax dodgers such as electricians, dentists, plumbers, lawyers and small businesses.

The greatest harm to the nation is not local evasion - where the money stays in the economy that sweated to make it - but is tax-evasion-capital-flight where the villains not only do not pay their share to the Homeland but also gouge the whole capital sum out of the economy. Tired of hearing "America /UK can't afford..." and "Our banks have no money to finance small businesses or raise wages"? The tax-haven funds must be repatriated.

STOP PRESS - 31 OCT 13 - "UK plans a register of beneficial owners of anonymous secret companies, including "offshore" companies. Developing nations lose $160 billion annually to tax-evasion". Should we celebrate a breakthrough? What is not mentioned is taxing and repatriating the $32 trillion currently offshore, growing by $1 trillion a year, of which $100 billion a year is siphoned from UK business - a total of $3 trillion - bankrupting Britain.

This short letter to The Guardian 29 Oct 2013 comments on reports that 3 senior UK tax-collectors are being quizzed by a Parliamentary committee led by Lady Margaret Hodge; a committee that fails to understand why, despite all the evidence they could want, the tax-collectors are too timid to prosecute obvious offshore crooks and get our money back from tax-havens.

Dave Monte-Carlo Hartnett was recently Head of UK tax collecting who did a much criticized deal over $5 billion of tax, with Vodafone, after a nice break in sunny Monte Carlo and months before dancing through the revolving door to become a highly paid adviser to major tax-planners and auditors - on the other side of the prison fence. All with the smiling approval of UK government Ministers.

Letter to the Guardian:

Edward Troup, tax assurance commissioner, quizzed about 18,000 untaxed UK Swiss account tax evaders, outed 3 years ago, told Margaret Hodge that “We still do not have sufficient information…” (UK’s official £35bn tax gap is just tip of iceberg, Hodge says – Guardian 29 Oct 2013). Are these 18,000, along with the recently published 130,000 British Virgin Island accounts, the only people not monitored by GCHQ and the NSA? Or are all UK tax collectors infected with Dave Monte-Carlo Hartnett’s Disease?

For our many friends overseas - here is a brief round up of the main news items preoccupying the United Kingdom today:

1) GALES IN CHANNEL - EUROPE ISOLATED*. Gale Force 11 winds reaching 99 mph have closed Dover and other ferry ports along Britain's south coast; inconveniencing thousands of Johnny Foriegners who flock to invade Britain to steal our jobs and our Health Services "Free at the Point of Delivery" and infect us with dangerous foreign-persons' viruses. (*Acknowledgement - Heavy fog in Channel - Continent cut off - The Times 22 Oct 1957)

2) WORST STORM SINCE 1987. A tree blew down in south-west England early this morning. Nobody was hurt. Heathrow and other airports have cancelled some flights. Hundreds of journalists have been rushed to hospital suffering from advanced chronic weather-forecasting-related-hysteria (WFRH).

3) TOP TAX COLLECTORS SLAPPED ON THE WRIST WITH A WET FLANNEL. Parliament is "grilling" Jim Harra, Edward Troup, Jennie Granger and other senior tax collectors about their inability to collect £35B ($56B) a year more from VIPs and Big Corporations - which is ten percent of the annual Budget; and about the collectors' conspiracies with Big Tax Advisers. But, The major treasure chest that both government and tax-collectors politely and tacitly ignore is the $3 trillion tax-free dollars illegally gouged out to tax-havens from Britain - which would pay-off all UK deficits. But we posh Brits all know that "Only little people pay tax" or borrow from loan-sharks. And the little people can go hang.

WILL TAX-PLANNERS BE JAILED?

4) SPIV'S EYE BBC LICENCE FEES. Minister Grant Shaps and other tricky business spivs embedded in the present government threaten to sabotage the BBC's tax-licence-income, divert the fees to Fox News and Rupert Murdoch and dismantle the BBC "unless the BBC supports all Tory election propaganda". If the BBC does as its told and the Tories do win the next election - they will definitely abolish the BBC.

5) SPIV'S EYE NHS REVENUES. The same bunch of "Free Market Cultists" continue their relentless attacks on the National Health Service, a service funded by National Insurance Contributions taxes from all wages, to sell the profitable medical services to American corporations, leave all loss leaders with the NHS and divert the immense amount of UK health tax dollars to US insurance executives' offshore accounts.

6) SPIVS BACK LOAN-SHARKS. And the same cultists block all attempts to curb UK loan-sharks such as WONGA who charge the very poor 5,000%, a gangster's scam just joined by "Satsuma" who will only charge 800% or 1,600 times the cost of the money. Aristocrat Prime Minister David Cameron protects the loan sharks with great zeal - while the new Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Wellby - and Pope Francis - are appalled at these usurious, evil City practices.

7) SPIVS HELP BIG 6 ENERGY MONOPOLY COMPANIES TO ROB THE POOR. Shades of the arrogance of ENRON. Despite global energy prices falling, partly due to US fracking - and to the discovery of many new oil-fields, and massive new finds of frozen methane hydrates (lethal global warming gases) in Japan, China and Russia, British monopolists have just hiked household energy prices by 10% - and threaten to plunge the nation into darkness if they are taxed or curtailed. Government says it is really very, very sorry for the poor huddled "eat or heat" masses - but "Free Markets" must rule; so thousands of old cold people must die. - OK?

8) HOUSE PRICES BOOM - In Greater London and the south-east. As panic grips the owners of tax-evasion-capital-flight, as they realize the NSA and GCHQ have their data and will send in tax-collectors, citizens of dozens of cash drained dying nations are pouring their ill-gotten gains into London property; which is going up in price. The boom is spilling over into other parts as Londoners who cannot compete are priced out of the capital. Its those wonderful Free Markets again.
