PORNONET STATISTICS

I have been challenged on my statistics from 2005. Don't ask me to remember your name - or the actor who played Spartacus in the original 1950's film, or Manchester United's famous manager (Alex somebody?) - but I do recall your Balance Sheet and many boring old statistics. I accept that I should get out more. Read this with yesterday's article INTERNET POLICE .

 12 OCT 05 – Hands off our Internet!

This IS the epochal battle for the future. (NB - On the 4^th day of the major earthquake disaster as the Indian sub-continent rammed Asia at the Himalayan boundary killing up to 40,000.) Administrations, corporations and media barons around the world are trying desperately hard to gain control or influence over the Internet. From grey, anonymous civil servants, to secret police, to grasping corporations, to well meaning religionists, to shocked moralists, to oppressive dictators, to crazed fundamentalists, to busybody neighbours, there are millions of people who want to act as thought police and veto the free-speech and dictate the consumer choices of errant thinkers. If only my Catholic teachers, nuns, monks and priests had owned such media control – they would not have had to beat me every day to persuade me of their god given messages and I may never have thought to quit the Holy Roman Catholic Church, the One True Faith, come to believe through banned books that the Earth goes round the Sun or sinfully eaten meat on Fridays. 9 MAY 05 - Internet Pornography, Masturbation and Self-Abuse

A new report on the use of internet pornography, based on a massive survey of 18,000 respondents, is due to be published shortly. The survey was organised and analysed by ex-New Yorker, psychologist, Brett Kahr, Senior Clinical Research Fellow in Psychotherapy and Mental Health at the Centre for Child Mental Health in London under the auspices of the Tavistock Centre for Couple Relationships, London and will rank alongside earlier major sexology studies such as Kinsey – 1948 and Masters and Johnson – 1966. A pre-publication workshop indicates that the report shows that 87% of men and 56% of women access pornography on the web. Internet users, at least those surveyed, on average masturbate or have sex with others 4 to 5 times a week. The author speculates that the rapid introduction into our homes of complex internet access tools has been partly due to the powerful sex drive to see the universally gossiped about sexual content on the WEB. In advance of the written data, which when reported in the media is almost certain to fuel new campaigns to censor pornography, I want to record some thoughts:-
