We, like Muslims under Shariah Law, often demand impossible levels of evidence of the crimes; we charge a tiny minority of reported rapists and convict a tiny minority of those charged. This low level of conviction dissuades most victims from complaining to officials - who rarely take action.
For example in the UK, widespread systematic beating and organised gang rapes of orphan boys in Bradford, Lancashire and in North Wales in the 1960's is still being suppressed, obscured and whitewashed by the perpetrators in public offices, despite current attempts to resurrect whistle-blowing reports and to at last name all the criminals. Rapists and bullies often have many friends in high places, in all societies. Jack the Ripper might have been protected from identification and prosecution by sympathetic Victorian chums.
However, one recent major breakthrough, albeit after his death, is the UK's Jimmy Savile case; a jabbering Lycra-clad kiddies' TV disc jockey, deeply embedded in the UK media and officialdom, who recently died aged 85 and is posthumously found to have been a serial rapist and sweaty groper of youngsters, currently with 500 victims lining up against him - or his now accursed memory. Many other "entertainers", politicians and VIPs, such as IMF official, Dominique Strauss-Khan, attack victims sexually - and largely continue their glittering careers with the full support of their colleagues and families and a blind eye from the police and judiciary. Political leader, Lib-Dem Lord Rennard in the UK is currently fighting off such accusations with much support from exalted Party Members.
Not everyone sees predatory sexual groping and attack as heinous. As a leading politician, Mulayam Singh Yadav, of the district in India where last week two 14 & 15 year old girls were ganged raped and then hanged, said "Boys will be boys". Lib-Dem, Baroness Shirley Williams, astonishingly, might be applying the same jolly liberal philosophy in her loyal defense of UK serial sex pest Lord Rennard.

But, while exhibiting equally large numbers of misogynists, male bullies, female envious harridans, and sexual predators, we in the West, do now stop short of FGM - razoring off little girls' sexual parts; gang raping girls on public transport, on the steps of courthouses, outside police stations, in village latrines - and then blaming the female victims - ostracizing them from society, throwing them into prison, viciously lashing them, hanging them - and, for the truly devout religions, stoning the innocent victims to death - all in the Name of God. Whose definitions of God, may we ask?
East and West - where does this hatred of females and sexual behaviors come from? What justification does the patriarchal legal system, with large numbers of supporting, razor wielding, dried out old crones, rely on? They claim religious authority; but no religion condones this perverse, evil sexual madness.

Sudanese woman who married a non-Muslim sentenced to death

A Sudanese doctor who married a Christian man and who was convicted earlier this week on charges of apostasy was sentenced to death on Thursday, judicial officials said.
According to the Sudanese officials, 26-year-old Meriam Ibrahim, whose father was Muslim, was convicted on Sunday and given four days to repent and escape death. She was sentenced after that grace period expired, the officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

MUMBAI, India (RNS) Khatoon Shaikh had no formal education, never worked outside the home and lived in the kind of neighborhood that many people might call a slum.But when Shaikh witnessed her sister-in-law victimized, first at the hands of a violent husband, and again by a patriarchal justice system, she took charge.
Shaikh started her own Shariah adalat, a court based on Islamic law, just for women.
“We needed a place where women’s voices could be heard,” the mother of seven said.
That was 20 years ago. Since then, the court has moved from Shaikh’s home to a two-room office in the north Mumbai neighborhood of Bandra. And it now operates within a broader organization called BMMA, or Indian Muslim Women’s Movement, which Shaikh helped form in 2007.
But Shaikh is setting her sights still higher: By the end of this year, BMMA plans to bring her vision for a gender-equal Shariah law all the way to the Indian Parliament.
“We want to challenge the legal concept of Shariah law and reclaim it for ourselves,” said Noorjehan Safia Niaz, one of the co-founders of BMMA who is drafting the bill. She has worked as an adjudicator in Shaikh’s all-female court since its inception.
In India, all Muslims are entitled to resolve issues of family law — marriage, divorce and questions of inheritance, alimony and child support — according to Shariah, the moral and religious code described in the Quran.
This right has been guaranteed since 1937, when Muslims sought to legitimize and protect their identity in India, which is majority Hindu. And it was followed two years later by a second act regulating the use of Shariah in Muslim family law.
BBC - India gang rapes: Police sacked over hanged girls
Two police officers in India have been sacked for refusing to help search for two missing girls who were later found gang-raped and hanged, authorities say.
Three suspected attackers have been arrested, along with two policemen accused of dereliction of duty and criminal conspiracy.The government has pledged to set up a fast-track court to prosecute the attack this week in Uttar Pradesh.
Alleged police inaction sparked outrage in the teenagers' village.
The father of one victim told the BBC he was ridiculed by police when he sought help in finding his missing daughter.

As reported by Digital Journal, a Norwegian woman traveled to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), for business, and while she was there, she alleged that a man raped her.
Because Sharia, the Muslim religious code that also serves as a strict moral code, considers any extramarital sex a crime, Dubai police arrested the woman and jailed her after she reported the rape to them, says the report. The court then convicted her for violating Sharia, despite having alleged she’d been raped.
According to the BBC, the 24 year old Norwegian woman, interior designer Marte Deborah Dalelv, traveled to Dubai in March of this year. Dalelv said she was out with friends the night she alleged she was raped, the BBB reports.

Alone and frightened, she took herself to hospital.
